PROOF Study
PROOF cohort study: PROmOting Gynecologic Cancer Patients With Frailty to Achieve Functional Recovery cohort study
The PROOF study is a prospective, multi-center longitudinal observational cohort study conducted at UCSF and the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. This research aims to explore how frailty affects health outcomes and quality of life in patients with gynecologic cancer. By better understanding these impacts, we hope to develop strategies to objectively identify frail patients to accommodate their treatment plans and improve care for older patients with gynecologic cancer. Patients aged 50 and older with a newly diagnosed advanced or high-grade ovarian or uterine cancer may be eligible to participate. Participants complete frailty and quality of life assessments and clinical outcomes are abstracted at baseline and every 3 months (+/-4 weeks) for up to one year.
The PROOF study is supported initially by generous funding from the Berkman Family Fund, the American Society of Clinical Oncology (Young Investigator Award), and is now further supported through the National Institute of Aging GEMSSTAR program and the NICHD Women’s Reproductive Health Research Career Development Program.
