CAPRICORN Study
CAPRICORN: Community Activated Partnership for Research in Improving Cervical cancer Outcomes, a Resource and Navigation pilot study
Established in 2025, the CAPRICORN pilot study is a quality improvement initiative designed to improve care delivery for patients newly diagnosed with cervical cancer. In this study we are partnering with Cervivor a non-profit global community of patient advocates.
We first created a multi-stakeholder Community Advisory Board to determine the needs of our patients and garner feedback for a potential intervention. The study will pilot an intervention in which participants meet regularly with a Community Health Worker from the Cervivor group for peer support, education, and empowerment in addition to their standard medical care, spanning up to 6 months from diagnosis. Patients with a new diagnosis of cervical cancer who receive consultation at the UCSF Helen Diller Family Comprehensive Cancer Center may be eligible to enroll.
This study is generously funded through research support from the HDFCCC Community-Engaged Research Pilot Award.
